At about age 16 he fought in the Civil War. He ran and staked off land in the Cherokee land rush. He had a small Plantation and a few slaves. He was 55 when his wife died. There were 12 children, 1 died at birth. He never remarried and raised the 11 children by himself.

To find the cemetery, locate Konawa, Ok. Go west on HWY 39 approximately 1.7 miles. The cemetary is on the north side of the HWY and is hard to see from the road.
