Notes
(Born: About 1803 in Georgia, Died after 1870 and before 1880 in Union County, Arkansas). Oral history passed down through descendents of this Jesse Amason, who married Mary Cook, indicates that they were from the Montgomery County, Alabama area and relocated to Union County, Arkansas before 1850. No documentation has been found to prove the relationship between Jesse Amason (Born about 1803) and presumed parents Uriah Amason (Born ??, Died 1826 in Montgomery County, Alabama) and wife, Bethany. We include this family here, because the information to date suggests this relationship. The application for a marriage license in Montgomery County, Alabama, for Jesse Amason and Mary Cook (Born 1805 in South Carolina) was dated 09 MAR 1828. The actual marriage date was never recorded in that county, so the marriage may have occurred in an adjacent county, probably in Pike County, Alabama. Census records indicate that the first three children of Jesse Amason and wife, Mary Cook, were born in Alabama. The younger children were born in Georgia. Jesse and Mary Amason, and children relocated to Union County, Arkansas at some time before the 1850 census.
